Harvest Time

Everything is turning orange and brown. There is still green left in the world. Sunflowers have made their debut and are starring in the fields. Apples, squash, and yams are all the rage in food fashion. Carbs are coming back in style. Red wine is in.
Autumnal haute couture is definitely my favourite.
Last night there were yams, scalloped potatoes, and apple pie.
Yesterday I wandered in a semi-domestic forest and was only barely bothered by bugs. I learned the history of the space with cards and pictures and reclaimed the power of my younger days.
The afternoon was spent in groves of apples searching for the perfect colour to assimilate. My guy contemplated the utter beauty of apple trees and we both breathed deeply the scent of orchards (apples, fermentation, grass, fallen leaves, horses). My sister picked out the favourites. I got stuck in a tree trying to reach a pretty one, which Jim plucked deftly for me, then plucked me from the branches as well.
The evening saw family pictionary (which my side won), as the evening before saw family "buzzword" (which my side also won).
There was church, and real pagan worship in the leaves.
There was quiet and rest, as well as merryment and laughter.
There were naps, and activities.
There was real celebration.

My heart is full. My heart is celebrating.
My heart is thankful.
